In summer, many LGBTQ+ travelers are drawn to the city of Mozart and of the Sound of Music. The city of Salzburg is the capital of the Austrian state of Salzburger Land. #visitSalzburg #gayAustria #gaySalzburg #visitaustria Especially the positive feedback from members of the LGBT community can be seen as a positive sign for a growing acceptance within Austrian society.Įverything you need to know for a city trip to Salzburg can be found in this Gay Salzburg Travel Guide by a couple of men traveling! We are happy and proud to tell you how gay-friendly and open-minded we experienced Salzburg. The next days can be described as a gay-friendly mix of nature and culture with hiking on the Kapuzinerberg to the Franziskischlössel, feasting delicious local cuisine and beer, multiple churches, museums, and concerts as well as our one-day biking adventure to Hellbrunn. The first thing to do was a gay guided tour of the most important parts of the city of Salzburg and familiarizing with the customs of the local LGBT community with our tour guide Roman. Already the train ride was a stunning experience through picturesque Bavarian villages, wide meadows with cows and sheep, and the raising height of the majestic Alpine mountains. We traveled to Salzburg by flying directly to Munich with KLM and taking a train from there to Salzburg.
